funds to aid girls game

Dorchester Town Youth have obtained a grant of almost £9,000 from the football Foundation to help develop new girls teams and disabled football.

Club secretary Lloyd Spracklen, received the cheque from South West MP Oliver Letwin, said: "This money is being used to pay for things including facilities hire, coaching and getting more qualified coaches and referees through the system. We are extremely grateful for this money and to the Dorset County FA for their help in the initial application. We would also like to thanks all those involved including Mr. Oliver Letwin for presenting the cheque to us". Also during the presentation was vice-chairman Tim Carter who together with Keith Legg, is pushing out the boundaries in the development of disabled football in the South Dorset area through Dorchester Town Youth.

 

Spracklen added: "We have started this project really well and have already entered a new girls team in the Dorset County Girls' Under 10 league for this coming season. Our aim is to put together another team for the start of the following season". For disabled football contact Tim Carter on 07864 682 539. Any schools who would like a visit from Dorchester Town to give female pupils free coaching should contact any of the above.
